SmoothTube v2.5.0
SmoothTube 2.5 makes playlists, recommendations, and watched status feel like connected parts of one native Windows experience.
A fuller playlist experience
- Browse public playlists directly from a channel's Playlists tab.
- Save public playlists locally so they appear alongside your own playlists in Library.
- Use a redesigned playlist page with playlist details, Play all, editing controls for owned playlists, and playlist-aware playback.
- Benefit from improved playlist removal behavior and clearer playlist queues.
Recommendations you control
Create an optional recommendation feed from interests you choose. SmoothTube loads recent standard videos, excludes Shorts and livestreams, refreshes its local cache hourly, and lets you load more results when wanted.
Watched status everywhere
- Watched badges follow a video across Home, Search, Library, channel pages, playlists, queues, and Up next.
- Mark any video watched or unwatched from its context menu.
- Watched status is stored locally by YouTube video ID and persists across app restarts until sign-out or app-data removal.
Local-first privacy
The manual Queue, watched status, saved-playlist references, interest settings, and cached recommendation results remain in local Windows app storage. The Privacy Policy now describes these data categories and interest-feed requests explicitly.
The main SmoothTube source repository is private. Obsolete public-repository links and source-available wording have been removed. The optional browser extension remains a separate public component.
Availability
SmoothTube 2.5.0 is distributed through the Microsoft Store. If the update is not visible yet, Microsoft may still be processing, certifying, or gradually rolling out the submission.
