Current release
SmoothTube v2.11.0
SmoothTube 2.11.0 completes the current free-product feature phase with a native mini-player, optional Discord activity sharing, and focused reliability improvements.
Native Compact Overlay
- Move the active player into a native Windows 11 Compact Overlay that stays above other windows and opens at the bottom right.
- Move the mini-player normally, then return seamlessly to the main SmoothTube window without restarting playback. Windows controls its compact size; the official Compact Overlay presenter is not manually resizable.
- Closing the overlay pauses playback and minimizes SmoothTube instead of exiting the app.
Optional Discord Rich Presence
- Opt in from Settings; the feature remains off by default and requires the Discord desktop app.
- Share video and channel details, dynamic artwork, playback progress, pause and browsing states, plus direct video and channel links.
- Use privacy mode to keep generic activity and timing while hiding identifying video, channel, artwork, and link details.
- Keep activity timing aligned when resuming Continue Watching videos and across pause, play, and seek transitions.
Comments and feed reliability
- Embedded YouTube comments wait longer on slower devices before falling back to relevance-ranked YouTube Data API comments.
- Background subscription refreshes use the same per-channel recovery path as manual refresh for more complete recent uploads.
- Home avoids unnecessary card reconstruction when a background refresh produces the same feed.
- Subscription Shorts are no longer mixed into Home recommendations.
- Windows platform foundations are updated from Windows App SDK 2.3.1 to 2.4.0 and Windows SDK Build Tools 10.0.28000.2526 to 10.0.28000.2705.
